PECORA CAPTURES CDGA SUPER SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
In his first year of eligibility in the event, Ted Pecora (Winnetka / Bob O'Link) took home the overall gross title at the 8th CDGA Super Senior Championship presented by Tour Edge at Glenview Park Golf Club. Tommy Robinson (Grayslake / Deerfield GC) matched the champion at 2-over 72, but Pecora earned victory with a back-9 scorecard playoff by shooting 35. Joining Pecora in the overall winner's circle was Michael Secoy (Island Lake / Stonehenge GC) as his net score of 70 was the lowest in the field.
Along with the two overall champions, each of the five flights featured a gross and net winner. Mark Roche (Forest Park / Oak Brook GC) earned the flight 1 net victory while Peter Harrison (La Grange Park / Oak Brook GC) and David Lee (Waukegan / Bonnie Brook GC) took home the hardware as the second flight's gross and net champions, respectively. John Forbes (Chicago / Harborside Intl GC) played with Secoy in flight 3 and emerged as the gross winner. Rounding out the top dogs in each flight were gross winner Dennis Pessis (Highland Park / Sunset Valley GC) and net victor Ron Mambu (Naperville / Springbrook GC) in flight 4 and gross conqueror Mark Moran (Chicago / CDGA Member's Club) and net champ Thomas Leonard (Gilberts / Whisper Creek GC) in the fifth flight.
The CDGA Super Senior Championship presented by Tour Edge debuted in 2013. The flighted event features 18 holes for CDGA members age 65 or older, with an overall gross and net winner being crowned. Last year, Bloomington native Brad Barker and Terry Bachner of Wayne earned the overall gross and overall net titles, respectively, at Calumet Country Club. (2019 Results / Event History)
