The Sunshine Course was designed by course architect, Joe T. Jemsek. It was built in May of 2002 by Brent Wadsworth Golf Construction Co. The course features three par-3 holes, a chipping and putting green and the I*Mag*Jen Clubhouse.

Facility Features
- Sunshine Through Golf Foundation: The private Sunshine Course was designed to accommodate the Foundation and its affiliated groups need for uninterrupted practice time. The groups playing the course include those dedicated to utilizing golf in an educational, therapeutic, recreational or rehabilitative manner. The course and adjacent facilities are fully handicap accessible. Clinics, camps and seminars for associated community organizations or corporations also take place on the course.
- Arboretum: The Midwest Golf House’s facilities also include an arboretum. The arboretum brings together many professions, as it helps both the Green industry and the golf industry. The arboretum benefits CDGA member clubs and the Green industry associations. The arboretum anticipates implementing an environmental plan that will include monitoring water quality, protecting/creating new wildlife habitats and educating club members and the public.
- Turfgrass Research: The CDGA is actively involved in efforts to help course superintendents provide the best possible conditions to the District’s golfers. The Midwest Golf House contains a greenhouse, research lab, research plots and experimental greens as well as the Sunshine Course. CDGA research is headed by Dr. Derek Settle in close cooperation with the University of Illinois turfgrass faculty in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences in Urbana.
