In the third consecutive playing of the CDGA Mixed Championship presented by Zero Friction, Douglas and Lauren Meyer (Libertyville / Ivanhoe Club) took home the hardware as low gross champions of the stableford event. The husband-and-wife pairing bested its 60 points from last year’s victory with 73 this time around. Finishing in second place with 61 points were Kyle Martin and his mother Mary Ellen.
Joining the Meyers in the winner’s circle were Jim and Eileen Knockemus (Lisle / Crystal Tree G&CC) as the duo tallied 74 points from their net score to earn the victory. With the Meyer pairing already earning the gross championship, Ryo and Eiko Kataoka (Algonquin / Kemper Lakes GC) were awarded the second-place prize after scoring 69 points.
The CDGA Mixed Championship presented by Zero Friction is an annual stableford-scoring pairs competition. The event crowns two champion pairs each year--Low Gross and Low Net. Both champions from 1972 to 2004 had their names engraved on the William J. Pailey Trophy, while champions since 2005 have been commemorated on the Walker Cup Trophy. Douglas and Lauren Meyer from Ivanhoe Club earned the overall gross crown for the second year in a row, while Brian and Lisa Cornell of Royal Melbourne Country Club claimed the net title at Biltmore Country Club in 2019.
