The
Chicago Women’s District Golf Association (CWDGA) has long been an allied golf association of the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA). The CWDGA was organized in 1930 under the sponsorship and guidance of the Women’s Western Golf Association. Its purpose is the advancement of the best interests of women’s golf at its member clubs located in the Chicago area. Together the CDGA and CWDGA provide a Handicap Index to the CDWGA membership.
The
Greater Chicago Club Managers Association is the local chapter of the professional association for managers of membership clubs. With close to 7,000 members across all classifications, the CMAA’s manager members run more than 3,000 country, golf, city, athletic, faculty, yacht, town and military clubs. The objectives of the Association are to promote and advance friendly relations among persons connected with the management of clubs and other associations of similar character; to encourage the education and advancement of its members; and to assist club officers and members, through their managers, to secure the utmost in efficient and successful operations.
For over 40 years, the
Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) has been giving the youth of Illinois an opportunity to discover the game of golf. Originated in 1967 as the Junior Open Division of the Northern Illinois Men’s Amateur Golf Association, the organization serves youths age 7-18. The IJGA strives to create “Better People Through Golf” by promoting a variety of rules clinics and playing opportunities for juniors throughout the state.
The
Illinois Section PGA (IPGA) is one of 41 sections of the PGA nationwide. The IPGA provides playing opportunities for its PGA members, apprentices and amateur golfers statewide. The Illinois Section currently conducts over 70 events throughout the year, including the Illinois Open. Each Section also holds business meetings and continuing educational programs for its members and apprentices to benefit from and to assist in the fulfillment of the PGA of America’s mission of "Making your golf game better - making golf a better game."
Founded in 1933, the
Illinois Women’s Golf Association (IWGA) is an all-volunteer organization committed to advancing golf opportunities for the women and girls of Illinois. Each year, the IWGA contributes thousands of dollars to charity through its Victory Tournament, held annually since 1941.
The
Kids Golf Foundation is dedicated to bringing the sport of golf into the lives of children and providing them with an opportunity for personal growth and career enhancement. Founded in 1998 by Jerry Rich and Don Springer, the Foundation offers and supports several junior golf programs and events that are designed to introduce children, typically between the ages of 5 and 15, to the sport of golf, its fundamentals, rules, history, etiquette, life lessons, and more. The Foundation has touched the lives of over 150,000 children since its inception. With the help of local youth organizations, site coordinators, volunteers and others, the Foundation is able to introduce and keep kids involved in golf.
The Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents (MAGCS), founded in 1926 by a small group of Chicago area “Greenkeepers”, has progressed over time to include a membership of over 750 individuals. Members represent superintendents and staff from golf courses throughout the Chicagoland area and Illinois, as well as surrounding states of Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and beyond. The MAGCS now exists to provide networking, education and career advancement opportunities to those who facilitate the growth and enjoyment of golf.
The Northwestern Illinois Golf Course Superintendents Association (NWIGCSA) is currently headquartered in Durand, IL and serves the professionals of the turfgrass industry in Northern Illinois, Central Illinois, Southern Wisconsin and Western Iowa. The NWIGCSA exists to elevate the profession of the golf course superintendent and to enrich the quality of golf and the environment. The NWIGCSA sees itself as a regional leader in the golf course management industry that provides value to an engaged membership.
The United States Golf Association (USGA) has served as the national governing body of golf for the U.S., its territories and Mexico since its formation in 1894. It’s a non-profit organization run by golfers for the benefit of golfers. The Association sponsors a variety of programs that benefit everyone who plays the game, from conducting 13 national championships each year, to writing and interpreting the Rules of Golf, to funding turf grass and course maintenance practices, to supporting grassroots programs through its “For the Good of the Game” initiative.
The Western Golf Association (WGA), founded in 1899, is supported by more than 500 clubs nationwide. In addition to sponsoring events such as the Western Junior, Western Amateur and the PGA’s BMW Championship, the WGA also sponsors the nationally-acclaimed Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides assistance to caddies by way of tuition scholarships to participating universities.
