| CDGA TO CONDUCT BEVY OF EVENTS, INCLUDING NEW WOMEN`S SLATE, IN 2024 | |
| Wednesday, December 6, 2023 - LEMONT, Ill. – Golfers of all skill levels, genders and ages in Illinois and the Chicago District will have more chances than ever before to play in a CDGA-administered competition in 2024. As revealed on Wednesday, the 2024 slate of CDGA Competitions will feature nearly 90 events in the realms of Championships, Social Competitions and, new in 2024, Women’s Championships. “We are excited and proud to conduct a diverse slate of competitions that mirrors the evolving popularity and demographics of golf,” said CDGA Executive Director Robert Markionni. “Our new Women’s Championships will complement our established Championships and Social Competitions in offering a bevy of first-class opportunities to compete and enjoy the game in a unique way.” Debuting in 2024 is the standalone CDGA Women’s Championship Schedule, which is anchored by two historic events that have transitioned from the Illinois Women’s Golf Association (IWGA) to the CDGA. The 91st Illinois State Women’s Amateur Championship will be contested June 10-12 at The Grove Country Club, with the 55th Illinois State Senior Women’s Amateur Championship slated for Sept. 16-18 at South Side Country Club. The female-only docket also will feature four net Women’s Tour Edge Trifecta events and seven women’s/girls USGA qualifiers. “We look forward to carrying on the rich tradition of the two State women’s events conducted admirably by the Illinois Women’s Golf Association for decades,” Markionni said. Highlighting the CDGA’s 111th Championship season will be the Association’s two most venerable Championships, the 93rd Illinois State Amateur and 104th CDGA Amateur. The State Am will be contested in central Illinois for a second-consecutive year, this time at Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois, July 16-18. The CDGA Am will be held in Chicago at The Beverly Country Club, June 24-27. The rest of the schedule consists of six additional Championships - two specific for mid-amateurs (25 and up), two for seniors (55 and up) and two for teams – as well as 12 CDGA-conducted USGA qualifiers (19 in total including the women’s qualifiers) and the 62nd Radix Cup Matches. Lastly, the robust CDGA Social Competitions schedule will continue to provide an array of casually-competitive playing opportunities for every type of golfer. With four-person team, two-person team and individual net playing opportunities available amongst the various Social Competitions realms, there is sure to be an event suitable for every player. The action gets underway on April 22 with a CDGA Mid-Amateur Qualifier at Maple Meadows Golf Course and will conclude on Oct. 3 with the CDGA Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Ivanhoe Club. Registration for all events on the Championship and Women’s Championship schedules will open on Tuesday, Jan. 16. The 2024 CDGA Social Competitions slate will open registration on Monday, Feb. 5.
