LEMONT, Ill. – As part of its mission to grow and support amateur golf, the CDGA will conduct a total of eight gross championships and 21 USGA qualifiers during its 107th season of championship golf in 2020. Registration for these events will open on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

In total, the CDGA will administer 54 gross competitions between April and October. The schedule is highlighted by the 90th Illinois State Amateur Championship, slated for July 21-23 at The Club at Wynstone, and the 101st CDGA Amateur Championship, locked in for June 22-25 at Bull Valley Golf Club.

“Our goal every year is to give amateur golfers a wide array of opportunities to compete in high-level championships,” said Nick Scillia, the CDGA’s director of rules & competitions. “We’re very excited about the clubs on our 2020 schedule and look forward to conducting events for the Chicago District’s top players.”

The only private Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course in Illinois, The Club at Wynstone Club in North Barrington opened in 1989 and features prevalent elevation changes, bunkering and water features. The first-time State Am host previously held two CDGA championships – the 2016 CDGA Senior Amateur and 2017 CDGA Amateur Four-Ball.

Woodstock’s Bull Valley is considered by many to be one of the most challenging tests in the Chicago District. Consistently ranked on Golf Digest’s “Best Golf Courses in Illinois” list, Bull Valley’s sweeping terrain last hosted the CDGA Am in 2010, when former Illinois State University star Tommy Bliefnick outlasted current Korn Ferry Tour pro Vince India in the 36-hole championship match.

“Wynstone and Bull Valley will be phenomenal sites for our two premier championships,” Scillia said. “Both will provide a fair challenge and memorable playing experience for the competitors.”

The state’s top players age 25 and older will vie for the Illinois State Mid-Amateur crown at Edgewood Valley Country Club in La Grange from Aug. 24-25. Edgewood Valley hosted the Illinois State Amateur in 2006 and CDGA Amateur in 2013. The 34th Illinois State Senior Amateur Championship will travel to central Illinois and the beautifully landscaped Mt. Hawley Country Club in Peoria, Sept. 14-16.

The mid-ams will be the first group to have a chance at hardware in 2020 when the 6th CDGA Mid-Amateur Championship is contested at Naperville Country Club May 18-20, with the 19th CDGA Senior Amateur Championship returning to Merit Club June 1-4. The 5th CDGA Amateur Four-Ball Championship is slated for July 27-29 at the historic Skokie Country Club, while the 2020 season will conclude with the 5th CDGA Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Aurora Country Club Oct. 5-8.

Two events – the CDGA Super Senior Championship (Sept. 10 at Glenview Park Golf Club) and CDGA Mixed Championship (Sept. 24 at Royal Melbourne Country Club) – will transition from the CDGA’s championship schedule to its Social Competitions slate, which also includes the CDGA Scramble Championship presented by Jersey Mike’s and the CDGA Net Series presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka. This slate will be released in its entirety in the coming weeks.

The championship schedule will officially kick off with two events on April 27 – a CDGA Mid-Amateur qualifier at Maple Meadows Golf Course and a U.S. Women’s Open qualifier at Village Links of Glen Ellyn.
