| CDGA TO CONDUCT MORE THAN 100 EVENTS IN 2026 | |
| Wednesday, December 10, 2025 - LEMONT, Ill. – The CDGA will offer a wide array of competitive playing opportunities for the 113th time in 2026, as seen on the Championships, Women’s Competitions and Social Competitions schedules unveiled Wednesday. In total, the CDGA will conduct more than 100 events from April-October throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. Opportunities are available for golfers of all skill levels, genders and ages.
“Conducting high-level golf events is a core piece of how we carry out our mission - promoting golf and changing lives,” said CDGA Executive Director Robert Markionni. “We are excited to bring even more opportunities for our members and golfers throughout the state to experience the thrill of competitive golf.” Illinois natives will have the opportunity to be crowned a State Champion in four different Illinois State Championships. The 95th Illinois State Amateur Championship will return to Bloomington’s Crestwicke Country Club for a fourth time, July 14-16. Past champions at the Larry Packard layout include former PGA Tour pros Gary Hallberg and Dave Ogrin. The 93rd Illinois State Women’s Amateur Championship will be contested at Elgin Country Club for just the second time ever, with the other iteration occurring in 1937. Rounding out the State events will be the 34th Illinois State Mid-Amateur Championship, Aug. 17-18 at Edgewood Valley Country Club, and the 40th Illinois State Senior Amateur Championship, Sept. 14-16 at The Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Club. Any CDGA member meeting the Handicap Index® limit, regardless of home state, can compete in the remaining events on the Championships slate. Notably, the CDGA Amateur Championship turns 106 in 2026 and will be hosted by North Shore Country Club, June 22-25. The rest of the schedule consists of four additional match-play events – one specific for mid-amateurs (25 and up), one for seniors (55 and up) and two for teams – as well as a bevy of CDGA-conducted USGA qualifiers and the 64th Radix Cup Matches. "With nine Championships scheduled, we are pleased to provide another year of high-quality playing opportunities for the top amateurs in the Chicago District and the state of Illinois," said Will Cawthon, Director of Rules & Championships. "We are excited to identify the very best women amateurs, mid-amateurs, senior amateurs and four-ball teams in the area, while conducting tournament golf on some of the best courses around." Women golfers will have numerous opportunities to compete within the framework of the Women’s Competitions slate. In addition to the State Women’s Am, the 57th Illinois State Senior Women’s Amateur Championship will visit Kankakee Country Club, Oct. 5-7. Four CDGA Women’s Tullymore Trifecta Series events and six USGA qualifiers specific to women comprise the rest of the docket. Lastly, the robust CDGA Social Competitions schedule will continue to provide an array of casually competitive playing opportunities for every type of golfer. With four-person team, two-person team and individual net playing opportunities available amongst the various Social Competitions realms, there is sure to be an event suitable for every player. Registration for all Illinois State and CDGA Championships will open on Tuesday, Jan. 20. The 2026 CDGA Social Competitions slate will open for registration on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Also returning in 2026 will be the Chicago Adaptive Open for its third iteration. A formal announcement on the dates and location for that event will be made in the coming weeks. | |
