The 119th playing of the U.S. Amateur Championship is underway at the venerable Pinehurst Resort and Country Club. Top-ranked amateur golfers from around the world, including eight from Illinois, will be competing Aug. 12-18 to join the likes of Chick Evans, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods and many other golf icons as the game's best amateur.
